Lens Rubber Ring White

It s about 4 years old and i bought it new from amazon.

Noticed if i rub with my hand the white comes of but its hard get in the groves. I don t use the lens that much so it stays in the bags most of the time. The rubber on my 70 200 turn white and it looks ugly. I ve noticed some of my less used lenses are have the rubber on the focus and zoom ring turn white ish.
